In regard to the proposed increase of staff referred to in the 3rd paragraph of the report I may mention that Sir G. William Des Vœux appointed, in the early part of this year, a Commission to enquire into the working of the Observatory.

The Commissioners have completed their report and I hope to transmit it soon to Your Lordship with such observations as may be necessary
